A New Don for D High — the Transformation Continues

DHS Marching Band, directed by Ms. Carter

Saturday, July 24, 2010 marked the second Compton Initiative work day dedicated to Dominguez High.  The school’s marching band started the morning off right with a musical greeting for all the volunteers.  From the first sound of the tuba to the drop of the last paint brush, the day was a success at every level!

Anber Gipson of the Dom Drill Team preforms.

From the materials and prep laid ahead of time...

to the scraping...

and the spraying...

and the rolling,

From the students...

to the Dominguez administration, such as Principal Roman,

From the CSDHU fraternity brothers doing community service...

to the Sweethearts they brought along,

From the individuals...

to entire families,

…it has truly taken an ENTIRE COMMUNITY to transform D High!!!  And the school has never looked so GREAT!

Have you participated in a Compton work day? If so, leave a comment about your experience.  And if you have not, this Saturday, October 16th,  is your chance to leave an impact on Dominguez High School.  Come join us at the school by 7 am and be part of the new birth in Compton.  The school and students will benefit and you will be blessed!!!  (www.justdogood.org for more information)

  1. I have helped out with the Compton Initiative. I love showing up bright and early and seeing over a thousand people coming to paint and transform a city. It is an awesome project and I feel blessed and honored to be able to help out in an way. If you haven’t been yet, I highly recommend it.
